Two Hawker Heavy Weight Champions at Blk 45 Sims Drive Coffee Shop

Blk 45 Sim Drive Coffee Shop may look like a regular neighbourhood kopitiam, but whenever these two stalls open for business, the place comes alive with queues, chatter, and the irresistible aroma of comfort food done right.

Regulars know exactly why —

Geylang Laksa Prawn Noodles and Meng Boon Teochew Fish Ball Noodles are the main crowd-pullers here.

I ordered the traditional prawn noodles (big bowl, $5.50), while a smaller portion is available at $4.50.

The first thing that stands out is the chilli — punchy, fragrant, and expertly balanced. When mixed into the noodles, it coats every strand beautifully without overpowering the dish.

For the price, the ingredients are impressively generous. The prawns are fresh and firm, and the soup is the real star — rich with prawn sweetness, deeply flavourful, and comforting from the first sip to the last.

For prawn noodle lovers, this stall is a must-try.

Just a few steps away is Meng Boon Teochew Fish Ball Noodles, arguably the most popular stall in the entire coffee shop.

The queue here can be intimidating, especially on weekends and public holidays, where waiting times can stretch from 30 minutes to over an hour.

Small bowls start at $4.50, with add-on noodles or ingredients at $1 each. I went all in — adding both noodles and ingredients — bringing my bowl to $6.50.

The noodles are springy and well-executed, tossed in a robust chilli mixed with the aroma of lard, which elevates the overall flavour.

The soup is light yet deeply savoury, with natural sweetness that keeps you coming back for more. What truly sets this stall apart is the two types of fish balls:

• cooked fish balls

• fried fish balls (rarely seen at most fish ball noodle stalls)

⏳ Opens: 6.30am – 2.30pm

❌ Closed on Mondays & Fridays
