Tucked within West Mall at Bukit Batok Central, the newly revamped Bukit Batok Library has reopened with a refreshing concept — transforming from a traditional reading space into a modern, immersive sanctuary for learning, relaxation, and discovery.

From One Floor to Three Storeys
Previously occupying just a single level, the library has now expanded significantly to span three storeys (Levels 1 to 3). With a total space of over 2,700 square metres (around 29,000 sq ft), it is now more than double its original size.
This expansion brings almost twice the seating capacity, offering more room for students, families, and working adults looking for a quiet escape or study spot.

A Nature-Inspired Theme: Calm, Cave & Sound
What makes this library truly unique is its nature-inspired concept, drawing inspiration from the iconic Little Guilin quarry nearby.
The design creates a calming environment — almost like stepping into a cave sanctuary — encouraging visitors to slow down, read, and recharge.
But the standout feature is something rarely seen in libraries: immersive soundscapes. This is Singapore’s first library to incorporate sound as part of the experience, using curated audio that reflects Bukit Batok’s natural and urban environment.

What You Can Find Inside
Beyond books, the new Bukit Batok Library offers a multi-sensory journey:
- Sound Cave – An immersive audio-visual zone that surrounds visitors with nature-inspired sounds
- Time Caverns – A storytelling space showcasing Bukit Batok’s history through images, sound, and archives
- Sound Library – A curated collection of Singapore sound recordings
- Reading Zones & Study Areas – Quiet corners, family-friendly spaces, and cosy nooks
- Interactive Displays – Digital “infinite shelves” recommending e-books and content
These features combine physical books with digital and sensory elements, making the experience more engaging — especially for younger audiences.

A Library with History
Bukit Batok Library first opened in 1998, serving residents in the west for decades as a community learning hub.
After closing in 2023 for major renovation works, it officially reopened in 2026 — not just bigger, but reimagined to meet modern reading habits and lifestyles.

More Than Just a Library
Today, Bukit Batok Library is more than a place to borrow books. It is a lifestyle space — where learning meets relaxation, and where technology blends with storytelling.
Whether you’re there to study, explore local history, or simply escape the busy mall environment, this new library offers a refreshing experience that goes beyond the traditional idea of reading.
