Just Acia – A Hidden Café Gem in Sembawang Shopping Centre

Tucked away on the first level of Sembawang Shopping Centre, Just Acia is one of those cafés you almost forget exists — until you walk in and wonder how you ever overlooked it. Since opening its doors in 2018, Just Acia has quietly built a reputation among neighbourhood regulars for serving well-executed comfort food at wallet-friendly prices. The concept is simple: good food without the fuss, portions that satisfy without shocking your wallet, and a welcoming vibe that feels just right whether you’re on a lunch break or lingering over an afternoon drink.

The café’s interior is modest but cosy, with soft lighting and clean wooden tables that encourage slow chats over your meal. What truly stands out, however, is the value-for-money promise — including free-flow soft drinks and ice cream with most mains — a rare treat in the age of premium café pricing. For budget-conscious diners, students, and families alike, Just Acia feels like a breath of fresh air in the Singapore café scene.

Food Review — Value That Hits the Spot

On our visit, we sampled a handful of their signature plates, and each one impressed in its own way — generous portions, balanced flavours, and prices that let you leave full without spending big.

Dumpling Udon Set

The Dumpling Udon Set ($7.90) was a comforting start. Thick, springy udon noodles swirled in a light, savoury broth that wasn’t overly salty. The chive dumplings were juicy and well-seasoned, with an appealing pop when bitten into. A side of edamame and Kimchi added freshness to the bowl, making it warming yet balanced — perfect for lunch or early dinner.

Deep Fried Chicken Ramen

This dish ($7.90) was a crowd-pleaser. The deep-fried chicken was wonderfully crisp on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and sat beside a bed of rich, flavourful ramen. The broth leaned more savoury than watery, letting the chicken and noodles shine together.

Tori Katsu Set

Generous slices of golden chicken cutlet lay separated from the steamed rice, paired with a vibrant side salad and Miso Soup ($6.90). The chicken had a satisfying crunch and a juicy interior, and while the seasoning was simple, it was comforting and familiar — like a homey upgrade from your usual lunch set.

Sweet and Sour Fish with Rice

Classic done right. The sweet and sour sauce ($10.90) was tangy without being overly cloying, coating tender pieces of fish and crisp vegetables. It balanced sweet, sour, and savoury notes beautifully, with the rice served separately. This set felt like a complete with Chawan Munshi, a satisfying deal.

All The above sets came with the free-flow drink and ice cream, making it a genuinely full meal for the price. Just Acia may not be flashy, but it excels where it counts — delicious food, generous portions, and prices that make you want to return. For hearty café meals that no service charge and GST, this Sembawang favourite is well worth a stop.
