🥟 Weekend Dim Sum at Tim Ho Wan (Tai Seng) 🍵
We dropped by Tim Ho Wan (18 Tai Seng) on a weekend, and it turned out to be a pretty relaxing visit. Since it wasn’t a workday for the offices around the area, the crowd was light and our food arrived quickly — always a good start.
🍽️ What We Ordered & Thoughts
🔥 Signature Baked Barbecue Pork Buns
💰 $7.80 (3 pcs)

Served piping hot, these lived up to their reputation. Bite in and the char siew filling flows out like lava. The crust had a light crisp on the outside, while the inside stayed soft and fluffy. Rich, sweet-savoury, and dangerously addictive — no wonder this is their signature.
🥧 Hong Kong–Style Egg Tarts
💰 $4.80 (3 pcs)
The edges were slightly over-baked, but flavour-wise, they were solid. You get a strong egg custard taste with a smooth centre that still hits the comfort-food notes nicely.
🥬 Spinach Dumplings with Enoki Mushroom
💰 $4.80 (3 pcs)

Served hot and surprisingly unique. The spinach wrapper paired well with the enoki mushroom filling, giving a light yet umami bite. Finished almost everything in under five minutes — that says a lot.
🦐 Fried Beancurd Skin with Shrimp
💰 $7.80 (3 pcs)

Crispy on the outside, with juicy prawn bites inside. The filling seemed mixed with coriander and spring onions, giving it a fresh aroma. This dish didn’t disappoint at all.
🍚 Fried Rice with Pork Chop
💰 $12.80

Came just in time before we wrapped up the dim sum. The fried rice had a strong wok hei aroma and was nicely executed. The pork chop was decent — garlicky and peppery — but nothing especially memorable.
🍗 Steamed Chicken Rice with Scallion Ginger
💰 $8.80

Presentation-wise, this was quite unique. Diced tender chicken cubes topped with lots of young ginger and green spring onions. Personally, it wasn’t to my liking, but if you enjoy strong ginger-scallion flavours, this might work for you.
🍜 Vegetable Soy Sauce Noodles
💰 $7.80

A vegetarian-friendly option. Taste-wise, it was acceptable, though ingredients were rather simple. Plenty of white sesame sprinkled on top added some fragrance.

🍑 White Peach Oolong Tea
💰 $3.00
Served as a tea bag in a bottle — visually interesting. Taste-wise, it was a fairly standard oolong with light peach notes, nothing too outstanding.
✨ Overall Thoughts

The Tai Seng outlet offers a cosy and comfortable dining environment. If you’re looking to enjoy Tim Ho Wan without the usual weekend crowd, this location is a good option to consider. A relaxed dim sum session with quick service — sometimes that’s all you need.
