SGSecure 10th Anniversary Exhibition at Our Tampines Hub

When you hear the word SGSecure, you might expect a rather serious-looking exhibition about emergency preparedness. But step into Our Tampines Hub, beside Hawker Centre @Tampines Hub and Tampines Library, you may be surprised to find yourself greeted by a giant durian, a cheerful chilli crab, two adorable otters and even an oversized colourful character that looks good enough to eat!

The colourful installation is part of SGSecure’s 10th Anniversary Exhibition Roadshow, happening at Our Tampines Hub from 23 to 27 September 2026. SGSecure is Singapore’s national movement encouraging everyone to play a part in keeping the community safe through three simple ideas — Stay Alert, Stay United and Stay Strong.

And instead of presenting everything through long panels of serious information, this exhibition certainly knows how to catch your attention.

One of our favourites has to be the enormous durian holding a magnifying glass, sitting beside the words “Fact-Checker – Discerning Durian.” It is a cute reminder that staying alert today isn’t only about noticing what is happening around us — it also means checking information before believing or sharing it.

Then there is the bright red “Lifesaver – Courageous Chilli Crab”, complete with a little first-aid bag. Somehow, emergency preparedness looks considerably less intimidating when your instructor is a giant Singapore chilli crab!

Nearby, a pair of relaxed otters sit comfortably on deck chairs under the title “True Friend – Loyal Otters.” They fit nicely with SGSecure’s message of staying united — looking out for people around us and keeping our community bonds strong, especially during difficult situations. SGSecure also advises the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading misinformation during a security incident.

There is also a Gratitude Wall, inviting visitors to share one thing they are grateful for in Singapore. It’s a simple activity, but perhaps one of the more meaningful parts of the exhibition.

Behind all the cute characters is a serious message. SGSecure encourages people to know basic emergency actions such as Run, Hide, Tell, recognise suspicious behaviour and learn useful emergency preparedness skills.

Overall, this is not the kind of exhibition where you simply walk past a few posters and leave. The colourful Singapore-themed characters such as : Kuih lapis and Toa Payoh Dragon Playground, make it family-friendly, photogenic and easy to explore, while slipping in some useful reminders along the way.
