August Cash Boost: Eligible Singaporeans to Receive Up to S$850



August could bring a welcome boost to many household budgets, with about 1.5 million eligible adult Singaporeans set to receive up to S$850 in cash under the 2026 GST Voucher (GSTV) scheme.

The Ministry of Finance announced that payments will begin from 7 August 2026, giving lower- and middle-income Singaporeans extra support for groceries, transport, utilities and other everyday expenses. Altogether, approximately S$1.4 billion will be distributed through the GSTV – Cash and GSTV – MediSave schemes this year.

Who Will Receive S$850?

To qualify for the 2026 GSTV – Cash payout, recipients must be Singapore citizens living in Singapore and aged 21 or above in 2026.

Their Assessable Income for the Year of Assessment 2025 must not exceed S$39,000. They must also own no more than one property, while the Annual Value of their registered home as at 31 December 2025 must not exceed S$31,000.

Eligible Singaporeans living in homes with an Annual Value of up to S$21,000 will receive S$850. Those whose homes have an Annual Value above S$21,000 and up to S$31,000 will receive S$450.

MediSave Support for Seniors

Singapore’s seniors will also receive additional healthcare support.

About 710,000 eligible citizens aged 65 and above will receive between S$150 and S$450 in GSTV – MediSave top-ups. The exact amount depends on the senior’s age and the Annual Value of their home.

Those aged 85 and above may receive the highest amount of S$450. Unlike the cash payout, this money will be credited directly into the recipient’s CPF MediSave Account.

When Will the Money Arrive?

Singaporeans who previously signed up for government benefits do not need to register again.

Recipients are encouraged to link their NRIC to PayNow by 28 July 2026. Eligible recipients using PayNow-NRIC can receive their cash by 7 August, while bank transfers are expected by 18 August and GovCash payments by 25 August. MediSave top-ups are scheduled to be credited by 11 August.

Those who have never registered should sign up by 14 July 2026 to receive their benefits should sign up by 14 July 2026 to receive their benefits in August. Later applications remain available until 20 June 2027 (means people who register late may not receive the payout immediately. After completing registration, the Government may need up to two months to process and issue the payment). Those who are unsure if they qualify can check their eligibility through the government’s GovBenefits portal.
