Kopitiam Foodcourt, Changi Airport Terminal 3 – A Relaxed Halal-Friendly Lunch

Heading down to Terminal 3 in search of a cosy lunch spot, we decided to revisit the Kopitiam Foodcourt, a familiar name to many Singaporeans. Located within the bustling airport environment, this foodcourt offers a surprisingly calm and comfortable dining space, making it a convenient stop for travellers, airport staff, and visitors alike.

What immediately stands out is the sheer variety. With more than 30 food stalls under one roof, choices can feel almost overwhelming. From local favourites to international comfort food, it’s easy to understand how one could spend quite some time just deciding what to eat. On this visit, however, we focused specifically on halal-certified options, curious to see whether Muslim diners would face any difficulty finding suitable meals at the airport.

The good news is that the selection is fairly decent. There are around eight halal-certified stalls, offering options such as nasi pandan, western cuisine, soup noodles, and other familiar comfort dishes. While it may not be the largest halal food cluster in Singapore, it is sufficient for a casual meal without the need to roam across terminals.

One dish that caught our attention came unexpectedly. While walking past a fishball noodle stall, we noticed a diner carrying a bowl of laksa that looked rich and inviting. Intrigued, we decided to give it a try. Priced at $7.30, the laksa is on the higher side compared to neighbourhood foodcourts. The coconut-based broth was thick and fragrant, delivering a comforting richness with every spoonful. However, the ingredients were relatively limited — mainly fish cakes, beancurd pieces, and a few chunks of fish fillet. For bigger eaters, this portion may feel slightly insufficient, especially given the price.

We also sampled the grilled chicken with creamy pasta, priced at $8.90 for the public. The pasta was decently cooked, creamy enough, but overall quite standard, with nothing particularly memorable. The chicken chop came in a familiar portion and quality — acceptable, but similar to what one might find elsewhere in casual western stalls around Singapore.

One useful tip for diners: if you have the FairPrice app, you can enjoy a 10% discount at Kopitiam outlets. Without the discount, prices here do lean towards the higher side, though this is somewhat expected given the airport location.

Overall, Kopitiam Foodcourt at Terminal 3 is a solid option if you’re looking for a comfortable dining environment with plenty of choices, including halal-certified stalls. While the food may not be exceptional, the convenience, variety, and cosy setting make it a reliable place for a relaxed meal before a flight or during a stop at the airport. Otherwise, diners who are more price-sensitive may also explore other dining outlets within the airport vicinity for alternatives.
