For many Singaporeans, HarbourFront has always been the familiar “let’s go Batam!” starting point. You arrive with your passport, queue for the ferry, grab a drink, and before you know it, you are on the way to Batam, Tanjong Pinang or nearby Indonesian islands. But from July 2026, this familiar travel routine has moved into a brand new home.

The new Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront officially began operations on 7 July 2026, starting first with Batam Fast Ferry. For now, Batam Fast is the first ferry operator to use the new terminal. The remaining ferry operators, including Horizon Fast Ferry, Majestic Fast Ferry, Sindo Ferry and Indo Falcon Shipping & Travel, are scheduled to move over from 15 July 2026. Cruise operations will also follow from the same date.
The good news for travellers? Your ferry routes, destinations, schedules and berths remain unchanged. In simple words, you are still going to the same places — Batam, Tanjong Pinang and other nearby destinations — but you now check in from a new building instead of the old HarbourFront Centre terminal.
The new terminal is located at 5 HarbourFront Avenue, just around 70 metres from the existing terminal. It is still very near HarbourFront MRT Station and VivoCity, so travellers do not need to panic and take a taxi to the wrong side of Singapore. Just follow the signs, arrive earlier during this transition period, and double-check your ferry operator’s latest notice before travelling.
Inside, the new terminal feels more modern, with airport-style features such as self-service check-in kiosks, baggage drop facilities and automated immigration clearance. There are also practical facilities like food and beverage outlets, convenience stores, nursing rooms, prayer rooms and wheelchair-friendly access.
For those asking whether there is an alternative terminal, yes — Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is another option for selected ferry services to Batam, Bintan and Desaru, depending on the ferry operator and destination. However, not every HarbourFront route is available there, so travellers should always check the ferry company’s departure point before booking.
As for the old HarbourFront Centre, it will not simply “reopen as before”. The building is being redeveloped into a new 33-storey commercial development, expected to be completed in the first half of 2031. The ferry and cruise terminal will remain beside the new development instead of returning to the old site.
So the next time you say, “I’m taking ferry from HarbourFront,” remember — same sea journey, same holiday mood, but a brand new boarding point.
