A Comforting Lunch at The Curry Times (Changi Airport T3)
We dropped by The Curry Times, a concept by Old Chang Kee, during lunch hour at Changi Airport Terminal 3, and it turned out to be a surprisingly comforting meal.
The outlet felt warm and cosy, with a nostalgic kopitiam-style vibe that made it easy to relax even in a busy airport. Despite the lunch crowd, we managed to get our seats pretty quickly — a good start already.

We began with the Seaweed Sauce Batang Fish Fillet Rice ($9.90). The fish fillet was fresh and nicely cooked, while the seaweed sauce was the real highlight. It tasted somewhat like a sweet black sauce with an extra depth that’s hard to describe, but it paired beautifully with both the fish and rice. Definitely a flavour you don’t come across often.

Next up were the Crispy Chicken Wings (3 pcs, $6.50). These tasted incredibly nostalgic — the kind of flavour that reminds you of home-cooked chicken wings from childhood. They also serve a Thai-style chilli sauce on the side, which added a tangy kick and worked very well with the wings.

For something meat-free, we tried the Vegetarian Bento Set (Black Pepper Mock Fish). The set came with mock fish stir-fried in black pepper sauce, crispy soya beancurd skin, mixed vegetables and rice. The portion was generous and filling, making it a solid option even for non-vegetarians. You can also top up a little more to get Old Chang Kee’s black sesame ball and a cup of traditional coffee, which we felt was a nice value add.

We also ordered the Butter Sugar Prata ($2). This was quite standard — likely an instant prata — but still enjoyable if you’re just craving something simple and familiar.
One of the most value-for-money dishes was the Nasi Lemak with Crispy Chicken Wing ($8.90). It came with coconut milk rice, ikan bilis and peanuts, fish cake, achar, a crispy chicken wing, sunny-side-up egg and refreshing cucumber slices. Everything you’d expect in a classic nasi lemak, all on one plate.

To finish, we added the Signature Curry Chicken Bun ($1.70 per piece). Served warm and soft, the bun lived up to its name. The curry chicken filling, coated in Old Chang Kee’s signature curry, was fragrant and satisfying — so good that we packed a few extra to bring home for breakfast the next day.

Overall, it was a hearty, nostalgic and very satisfying lunch, perfect for travellers or anyone looking for comforting local flavours at the airport.
